FortiToken MFA Setup Guide & SSL VPN Access
Step 1 – Install the FortiToken App on Your Phone
iOS Devices:
- Open the App Store.
- Search for "FortiToken Mobile" and install the app.

Android Devices:
- Open Google Play Store.
- Search for "FortiToken Mobile" and install the app.
Step 2 – Scan the QR Code
(The screenshots below are from an iOS device, but they look very similar on Android devices too.)
- Open the FortiToken Mobile app on your phone.

- Tap “Scan Barcode”.

- Open the email you received from Fortinet that contains the QR code.
(The email will look similar to the following)

- Scan the QR code using your phone. (You may see the following warning after you tap on Scan Barcode.)
- If You're Using an iPhone Pro (Model 13, 14, or higher):
You may experience issues scanning the QR code.
Try zooming in on the QR code from your PC before scanning.
- Tap OK to close the notification. If the Camera Doesn’t Work:
- Go to your iPhone Settings.
- Navigate to Privacy & Security > Camera.
- Turn on camera access for FortiToken.
- Reopen the FortiToken app and try scanning again.
Step 3 – Confirm Setup
- Once the QR code is successfully scanned, you’ll see a new account added in the FortiToken app.
- A 6-digit code will be displayed. This is your token for signing into SSL VPN.
- If you see dashes (– – – – – –) instead of numbers, tap the eye icon to reveal the code.
Step 4 – Connect to VPN Using FortiClient
- On your computer, open the FortiClient VPN app
(There might be a shortcut on your desktop.)

- Enter your computer login credentials and click Connect.

- When prompted for a token, open the FortiToken app and enter the 6-digit code into the Token field in FortiClient..

- Once the code is accepted, the VPN will connect.
- You’ll see a notification confirming successful connection at the bottom right corner of your screen.

Step 5 – Stay Updated
Make sure to connect to the VPN regularly. This ensures your computer stays up to date with the latest security policies and updates.
